All of our classes use the ingredients of art for our students to explore their creativity - whether this is their first art class or a returning student.There is a focus on learning to make observations of the lines and shapes to help students really see what they are drawing.
In all classes each student is provided with a sketchbook. Students are encouraged to use this artists book as a workbook, planning artworks, making notes and including inspiration.
Classes generally begin the third week of September and run for 22 weeks. There is a break over Christmas and the February week.
Classes are grouped by age/grade and there is often an overlap for instance: a Grade 2-3 class and then another night may offer a Grade 3-4 class.
Spring classes are shorter in length, typically eight weeks. Classes begin toward the end of May and registration will open in February.
Lessons are developed with the interest and abilities of the students. We look at art history, illustrators, the natural world and everyday things we might encounter.
Artwork created over the twenty two weeks of classes stays at the studio in a portfolio so that artworks are in pristine condition for the art show. All artwork is photographed and is added to our Artsonia online gallery.
